Study Abroad Stories from Florence: Ana from Serbia

  • What is your name?
    Ana
  • Please write a short intro about yourself
I am Ana from Belgrade, Serbia. I graduated as an architect in Florence.
  • Why study or intern abroad in Florence?
Because it is the basis of modern art.
  • Is Florence a safe place to study abroad (perhaps mention also some nice/cool neighborhood to hang out) ?
It is quite safe. Nice neighbourhoods include Santo Spirito and San Frediano.
  • Cultural differences (food, family, work, etc..)
The relationship to food is different than what I was used to.
  • A fun story to share
I used the wrong word for “oaths” for several months and nobody corrected me. Finally, when I myself found out it was wrong I cringed so back remembering all the times I used it incorrectly.
  • What to pack before travelling to Florence?
Depends on when you’re coming. But maybe pack tour favourite cosmetics and snacks because maybe you wont be able to find them here.
  • Must do weekend trips (ie. in Tuscany, Rome, Milan, etc…)
Cinque Terre, San Gimignano, Milan, Assisi
  • Any advice to the newcomers?
    Learn Italian
