Study Abroad Florence: Bianca from India

  • What is your name?
    Bianca Faroz
  • Please write a short intro about yourself
21 y/o from Mumbai, India studying fashion and art in Florence, Italy
  • Why study or intern abroad in Florence?
I have always been impressed by the art and attention to details of this city
  • Is Florence a safe place to study abroad (perhaps mention also some nice/cool neighborhood to hang out) ?
Yes, students usually go to Santo Spirito or Piazza Michelangelo
  • Cultural differences (food, family, work, etc..)
Ive observed that its is easier for foreign students to meet other international students rather than Italians in my case. The food is absolutely delicious and a lot more poke and sushi than I expected
  • A fun story to share
While florence was in the red zone last year there was a curfew. Me and my friends were walking back home from a party and the police stopped one of my friends. For some reason i thought its rude to leave him alone so i dug my own grave and walked towards the police. They asked for our documents my friend gave his EU Id and i gave my indian ID now plot twist the police couldn’t understand English so they couldn’t take down my details & hence i walked away free. It was awkward and embarrassing for all of us hehe.
  • What to pack before travelling to Florence?
A camera & your favorite skincare products
  • Must do weekend trips (ie. in Tuscany, Rome, Milan, etc…)
Chianti is a dreamy countryside in tuscany & has the best red wine it takes 30min by car but if you prefer the sea then marina di pisa is accessible by public transport train/ bus and is a turquoise heaven.
  • Any advice to the newcomers?
Dont keep looking for company and wait on your plans. The city has so much to explore and inspire all you need is time
